There are really only two steps to take to guarantee a transformation, a metamorphosis, to your next level:
Choose and begin a plan for transformation. This usually involves setting a schedule for the change. For me, lately, that plan has been being able to run. I chose a “Couch to 5K” app for my iPhone and it is taking me through the steps. I just completed Week 4 before writing this, and it takes nine weeks total.
My next plan for transformation includes shifting my career to a higher vibration where I am able to reach more people. My plan, in part, is writing this blog and learning about social networks. My challenge is creating a schedule for both.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you follow through on one plan for transformation, the other transformations in your life become easier — especially when you are engaged in wellness practices.
2. Be RELENTLESS in your first step of the plan for that day. That means every time you are scheduled to carry out the plan, all you have to do is take the first step of it without making ANY excuses.
For me, and the running program, that means my feet must hit the floor between 5 and 5:30 AM on weekdays. For my career development plans, that means scheduling research and development time and then sticking to it like clockwork each day.
If you are relentless with the FIRST step each time, you will follow through with your plan. But you must be as excuse-free as possible with that first step on your plan day. Don’t let up. Don’t forgive yourself. Just do it. Now.
Remember that lots of people have it tougher than you. All those people on The Biggest Loser or basic training inspire me. Wheelchair athletes inspire me. If they can do it, so can I. So can you.
Just get out of your own way.
